French Montana Claims He’s the Driving Force Behind Lil Durk’s Success, Sparking a Response from the Rapper

After claiming boldly that he was responsible for bringing the Chicago rapper French Montana to fame, Lil Durk says Montana.

There will be a riot anytime a rapper claims credit for the work of another. It appears like Lil Durk has responded to French Montana’s recent claims that he was the driving force behind Durk’s great career.

On Wednesday, October 27, French Montana made his voice heard via Twitter. “They got amnesia like I didn’t give them chinx drugs, Lil Durk, and Harry were fraudsters,” he tweeted. Quickly, his followers agreed with him, and the hashtag “THEY GOT AMNESIA” went viral. Just so you know, the name of his next album is the same phrase.

In addition, Montana had a string of tweets in which he recapped his genre accomplishments for both his supporters and detractors.

Lil Durk initially remained silent, but on October 31 he posted something to Instagram that many are taking to be a response to Montana’s audacious claim.

In his song “An—a said he made me that’s the biggest cap… 7220,” Lil Durk included his former Chicago area code, seemingly implying that he was made in that location.

As far as anyone can tell, the “Hats Off” rapper’s appreciation for French Montana’s help when he needed it had nothing to do with his rise to fame in the rap industry. He teased a song about wanting to make amends with the “No Shopping” singer in an Instagram video that he shared just two years ago, in 2019.

My relationship took a nosedive after my breakup with French Montana. He transformed me into a diamond when Def Jam passed on me, and now I’m the voice of the streets—perfect timing—after I learnt the rules of a contract.

On November 2020’s CB5 mixtape by Montana, the pair can be heard on tracks like “Brothers,” “Hot Boy Bling,” and “Yes Sir,” among others. Perhaps there was some misunderstanding on both sides, or perhaps Montana is attempting to generate excitement for his November 12th album, They Got Amnesia.
