Pretty much everyone has said good things about Kendrick Lamar’s surprise new record GNX, but Lil Wayne doesn’t like it.
The next day, November 23, Weezy F. Baby replied to K.Dot’s lyrics about him in the first song of the album, “wacced out murals.”
On the song, the Compton rap star finally replies to the negative comments about his upcoming halftime show at the Super Bowl. Specifically, he addresses the idea that he turned down Lil Wayne’s chance to host the big game in his hometown of New Orleans.
“I used to bump ‘Tha Carter 3,’ and I was proud of my Rollie chain. Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down. Call me crazy, though; everyone is questionable. Turn me into an Eskimo; I drew the line and decimals,” he raps.
Afterward, Kendrick spits, “Won the Super Bowl, and Nas was the only one to congratulate me.” All of these n-ggas are upset; I’m glad they showed their faces. Frankly, there are a lot of singers, but they’re out of date. Tryin’ to tell me that you’re their favorite, old-ass flows Do not read this if you are a poet; it is not about the feelings. “This is shit, and I want you all to feel it.”
Wayne replied with a text message on X.”Man, what am I doing?!” he asked. “I was just chillin’, but they still came up to my head.” Don’t mistake being kind for being weak. Sleep this huge thing down. Please listen. No one really wants to destroy, not even me, but if I’m bothered, I will. On me. “Love.”
Kendrick’s lyrics refer to an Instagram video from September in which the Young Money star talked about how upset he was that he wasn’t chosen to perform at next year’s Super Bowl, a job he had publicly wanted.
Wayne, who sounded sad in the video, said he was “hurt” and “broken” over what he saw as an insult. He also said, “I thought there was nothing better than that spot, that stage, and that platform in my city.”
Many of Weezy’s peers, like Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Cam’ron, Juvenile, and Master P., also spoke out against the NFL’s decision not to book the “A Milli” singer.
