Birdman shares his thoughts on Lil Wayne following the rumors of tension that arose during the Essence Festival performance

It would appear that Birdman and Lil Wayne are still amicable.

During his “Birdman & Friends” concert at last month’s Essence Festival in New Orleans, Birdman allegedly made fun of Lil Wayne, but the rapper has denied the rumors. In a Monday interview with Gregory “Geedy P” Earls, the co-founder of Cash Money Records reflected on the performance and assured Wayne that he would never criticize him. I will never let my hometown down and be a p*ssy-ass n***a for anyone,” Birdman said as his concert came to a close. “I swear to God on everything I love — and I love nothing more than Ms. Gladys.” There were whispers of a schism between the two after Wayne didn’t perform with him throughout the show but instead did so individually.

“Wayne doesn’t want to do this and that. I saw that n****s was talking about it.” Essence was a non-starter for Wayne. I contacted my son and requested that he take care of it as I was busy with Birdman & Friends. “He did it because I asked him,” he explained thoroughly. That Wayne would eventually have his own set was always a given. Because Juvie, Geezy, Fresh, and I had our own set and practiced together daily. However, everyone was aware that Wayne would be getting his own set. He was merely an unexpected visitor. When I asked him if he would mind doing Essence for me instead of the second year in a row, he graciously agreed to do it. Applause for my son Weezy, dude.

His comments meant to conclude the show were never meant to be directed at Wayne, he said again. No way. According to him, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything bad about Wayne. I adore my son, you know. No, it wasn’t the point. I didn’t intend for this game to control me, that’s all. It was a very n****s-filled game. In no world am I going to play the victim in this industry. I am not that built, and I will not be a p*ssy-ass n***a and disappoint my city.
