ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – There will be events and activities for fans before the big game, as announced Thursday by the College Football Playoff (CFP) and the Atlanta Football Host Committee.
Lil Wayne, GloRilla, and Camila Cabello are all getting ready to perform at the fun concerts that are happening before the national title game.
Director of the College Football Playoff, Rich Clark, said, “It has all the makings of something amazing, and I can’t wait for the wow of this.”
The hitmakers will be the main attraction at AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!, which starts on January 18 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Before the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 20, the two-night series will take place. That day is also the Day of Service for Martin Luther King Jr. On January 18, Lil Wayne and GloRilla will perform live. On January 19, singers Camila Cabello, Myles Smith, and Knox are set to perform.Along with the concert series, country music stars Kane Brown and Ashley Cooke will play at the Allstate Championship Tailgate, which is the first event of the day. The party show will happen in the Georgia International Plaza and The Home Depot Backyard, which are both outside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“Downtown is going to be really exciting.” Andrew Saltzman from State Farm Arena said, “I think you will see more and more of these great events coming to our city as Centennial Yards and other projects continue to grow.”
People who have tickets to the championship game will be able to go to the tailgate music.
The first ticket sales for Playoff Playlist Live! will begin on November 25 at 10 a.m. ET. It will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday, January 20, for the CFP National Championship game.
“The new format lets us host a quarterfinal in the Peach Bowl on January 1, and then 20 days later we’ll be starting the championship game. No other city in America has that much football in 20 days,” said Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council.
Artists like Lenny Kravitz, Jack Harlow, Latto, Saweetie, Pitbull, Doja Cat, Usher, Meghan Trainor, and Sting have performed at the series before.
The CFP National Championship will be held in Atlanta in January for the second time in less than ten years. Athlone is the first city to hold the championship game twice, too.
