It’s very loud in the living room, but Lil Baby, a rapper from Atlanta, is singing along with his son on FaceTime in the kitchen of his $20 million Bel-Air home in Los Angeles.
A few weeks ago, Lil Baby talked to The Associated Press about his rise in rap and making words less illegal.
A few years ago, it would have been hard for this rapper to imagine living in one of the most exclusive areas in the U.S.
He got out of jail in 2016 after two years of being locked up on a drug charge. He didn’t want to start a rap career at first, but when the 27-year-old made it a goal, he became very successful. People loved his catchy songs, such as “Drip Too Hard,” “We Paid,” and “Yes Indeed” with Drake. Future, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne are some of the best musicians he’s worked with. This year, he got a Grammy for best melodic rap performance for Kanye West’s “Hurricane,” which also had The Weeknd on it.
“It’s Only Me,” his third studio record, comes out on Friday, October 14.
