Lil Wayne brought the Hot Boys back together at his Lil Weezyana Fest, featuring himself, B.G., Juvenile, and Turk, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, November 2. According to Complex, this marked the first time in over 15 years that the Cash Money legends took the stage together. Their performance, featuring Birdman and Mannie Fresh, came after a set from the Big Tymers and solo showcases from each Hot Boy (with the exception of Tunechi, who joined the guests for a couple of tracks), delivering hits like “Bling Bling,” “I Need A Hot Girl,” and “Neighborhood Superstar.” This journey has been a labor of love, and fans cherished every moment along the way.
At the Lil Weezyana Fest, Lil Wayne took a moment to share his thoughts on not being chosen for the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown next year. “In that moment, I made a promise to myself: I would perform on the Super Bowl stage, right in front of my mom. I dedicated myself completely to achieving that dream,” he shared with the audience. “It was taken from me.” But this incredible moment right here… they can’t take that away, man. No one can take that away from me.
Lil Wayne was honored by New Orleans in a way that went beyond a Super Bowl halftime show; it was a heartfelt tribute filled with love, gratitude, and a legacy that truly transcends the moment. The key to the city was presented to him by Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “We adore you,” she said. “You are an integral part of this city, and your impact resonates through generations—reflecting on your past achievements, your current efforts, and the future contributions you will make.” Furthermore, Master P revealed that “Let The Beat Build” will have its own dedicated days in NOLA on February 6 and 7, and he will be one of the inaugural inductees in the upcoming New Orleans Walk Of Fame.
In the meantime, former Cash Money stars Juvenile and Mannie Fresh expressed their willingness to participate in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans next year, should they receive the invitation. Perhaps Lil Wayne might offer a unique perspective given his friendship with Drake, but regardless, there’s a palpable buzz surrounding the Hot Boys and other New Orleans legends finally receiving the recognition they deserve.
