In his YSL RICO case, Young Thug just took a plea deal on Thursday afternoon (October 31). He pleaded guilty to all charges except the RICO count and the gang leader count, which he did not challenge. The main thing is that he neither denies nor admits the charges. He decided to take them, their sentence, and the fine. As I write this article, both the State and the defense are making their cases for the sentence they want. In this non-negotiable plea deal, the judge will finally make a decision on the sentence. The state asked for a 45-year term, with 25 years to serve and 20 years on probation.
Though, Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel made it clear that they didn’t accept the State’s first offer of a plea deal, which would have let him go home today (Thursday, October 31) with 15 years of probation. Neither did he want to appear nor did he agree to the special conditions that the DA wanted, so this plea deal was made without any talks. In the YSL RICO trial, this comes after a number of other plea events. One example is Yak Gotti, who turned down a plea deal.
But other people connected to YSL also took plea deals, which made the case less open until this important point. Even so, we still don’t know what Young Thug’s plea deal means in terms of his sentence, how it might affect other suspects, or what it all means. This is still very early in the process, and the State made some final points about the lyrics and the alleged text messages. We still don’t know what the special conditions were that Thugger and his lawyers turned down when they were trying to get a plea deal. Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, said that they don’t agree with most of the prosecution’s points of view. They also pushed back on some of the prosecution’s evidence and accusations, saying that they were misleading, withheld evidence, and made false claims.
