After the news that Lil Durk was arrested for supposedly planning the attempted murder of Quando Rondo, DJ Akademiks says that the number of people streaming his music has gone up by 28%. Last Thursday, he was arrested in Florida as he reportedly tried to leave the country through Miami International Airport, where he had booked several international flights.
In the responses to Akademiks’ story, fans both praised Durk’s continued success and asked for his freedom. “Man getting paid to be in jail, getting even has never felt so good…One person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Free Durk.” Someone else wrote, “That’s how it always is.” People will see him on the news and want to know what his song is about.
The lawsuit against Durk said that he paid for Quando Rondo to be tried as a murder victim. It says, “Banks [Lil Durk] put out a money reward for a person named T.B. with whom Banks was at odds.” Banks told the hitmen to kill T.B., and they used money from Banks and the OTF to pay for it. It also says that the move was a response to the killing of King Von in 2020. The lawsuit also goes after other people connected to his Only the Family record label, which it calls a “hybrid organization” that works as both a music collective and a criminal gang.
