50 Cent Says ‘Stupidity’ Of Current Hip Hop Is Why He Doesn’t Rap Anymore

50 Cent has distanced himself from rap during the past ten years, citing what he perceives as a drop in hip-hop intelligence.

The G-Unit boss said he would have to simplify his lyrics to fit into the contemporary rap scene in a video that surfaced on Tuesday, October 1, during an interview with Earn Your Leisure at Invest Fest. The tape was directed towards Lupe Fiasco.

“I have to tap into my stupidity if you listen to the music that’s now popular. When it comes time to write the music, I have to write from the foolish part of myself,” he remarked.

“This is the reason I haven’t been producing as much stuff as I used to, and I’ve shifted my focus to developing these projects and making films instead. Since I can use that to have a greater influence on things.

Over the past year, 50 Cent has been hinting at a musical comeback, even if he feels too sophisticated for contemporary rap.

In a 2022 interview with Houston’s 97.9 The Box, 50 Cent discussed the state of hip-hop at the time and voiced similar severe criticism.

Youth culture is a component of hip hop. “I don’t think you should be 50 years old and still have the hottest verse in hip-hop,” he remarked. “I believe that the 15-year-old and 16-year-old kids ought to be thinking and acting in a way that sustains culture and propels it forward with fresh music, vibes, and energy.

Some of it is simpler to look at, after all! On the records, they rap in the same cadences and manner. I could easily make that record if I had to go make one right now!

“Since they use the same melody throughout, you could actually take your favorite records and write your own version of them with your words on that track, and then go get the next one.”

“If you know the song’s lyrics, just make your own version of it. I don’t care whose record it is,” he continued. Modify the text and create your own rendition.

Finding a song to match it will then be simple because trap music has the same cadences and tempo, so you’ll be able to discover another song that complements it flawlessly. “Hey, this is my new joint,” you exclaim.

Over the past year, 50 Cent has been hinting at a musical comeback, even though it feels like things have changed.

The “In Da Club” hitmaker made a hint that he and longtime partner Dr. Dre are working on a new album in an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood.

“As soon as I said that, I got a text from [Eminem] that he had already spoke to Dre, and that Dre is in there and he got some crazy stuff for me to go hear,” Fif claimed, referring to an Instagram post in which he hinted at “new music.”

“This is how I work: I go locate the best music I can find and I make something with it. And when I’m really happy about it, I bring it up to make Dre feel under pressure to give me something. Because he will possess anything. It’s always something with him.
