Lil Durk is thankful for the “second chance” he’s been given. He told his fans over the weekend that everyone should have the same chance to make things better.
Durk was one of the artists Ye put together for his and Ty Dolla Sign’s two Vultures albums this year. On Sunday (Sept. 22), he celebrated the next step in his own journey by saying “praise be to God.”
He told his friends on X, “Everyone should get second chances at life.” “What you do with it matters.” Thank you, Allah! Everything in my background was erased and cleaned. I’m no longer a criminal. What did you think? Thanks to everyone who helped me move my idea forward. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
Durk, 31, has had legal problems in the past, including charges that were later dropped against him in connection with a shooting in 2019 that was first thought to have involved the late King Von. A request to dismiss from the office of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis led to a review of the case, and it was decided not to prosecute.
Manny Arora, Durk’s lawyer in that case, told Complex in October 2022, “I am glad that the charges from more than three years ago have been dropped.” “It’s too bad it took so long to come to the conclusion we had been arguing about from the beginning, but I’m glad everyone can now move on.”
As soon as that case got attention from the media, Durk insisted he was innocent. At one point, he told reporters he had “nothing to hide.”
A paparazzi caught Durk in a vulnerable moment in Malibu in June. He told the photographer that he wanted to “embrace” the fact that he could talk about the benefits of recovery from personal experience. Durk said that before he started his own journey, he was “letting the drugs take over me.” He named codeine and Xanax as two drugs that he used to abuse.
