On Wednesday (January 24), the producer took to social media to announce that the project, discussed for four years, was no longer in the works. Responding to a fan’s inquiry, Metro revealed that the record, nearly completed and filled with great music, was unfortunately thwarted by leaks.
Since Metro Boomin and Lil Durk revealed the album, tentatively titled No Auto, via an Instagram post in February 2020, numerous songs expected to be part of the project have leaked, including the Lil Baby collaboration “Project Baby,” “High Demand,” and “I Am No Auto.”
Despite the setback with the Lil Durk album, Metro still has a plethora of music set to drop in 2024.
Earlier this month, the “Heroes & Villains” maestro stated on social media that he aimed to release “at least” three albums this calendar year. The specific albums Metro is referring to remain unclear, but he has teased highly-anticipated joint projects with Future and JID, along with another solo album.
“I’ve already got my next 5 albums planned out so you just gotta wait and see,” Metro teased. “2023 was great but just watch what I do 2024!!!!! #itsgongetgreaterlater.”
The St. Louis native elaborated on how he’s feeling more “inspired and motivated” than ever since turning 30 last September.
There’s no denying Metro Boomin’s solo success, especially after the release of his Heroes & Villains album in December 2022, which has maintained a presence on the Billboard 200 every week since its debut — an impressive 59 weeks and counting.
Heroes & Villains also clinched the title of the most-streamed rap album of 2023 with 3.3 billiоn streams on Spotify, making it the sole rap album to achieve this milestone last year.
Metro Boomin’s hard work has garnered accolades, as the 30-year-old is nominated for Producer of the Year and Rap Album of the Year at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
