Lil Wayne’s old lyric notebook is now being sold for $5M at auction
Officially available for purchase, Lil Wayne’s lyric notepad has a high price tag. following the resolution of the ownership dispute, which lasted for years, earlier this year. Five years after it was first advertised for $250K, the rapper’s 1990s notebook is now up for $5 million.
The business overseeing the transaction, Moments in Time, justified the steep markup to TMZ, claiming that Lil Wayne is among the greatest rappers of all time and that his handwritten musical notes are extremely precious.
Still, there are other noteworthy aspects of this notebook besides its pricing. Keep in mind that TMZ broke the story. Moments in Time gained attention in 2019 when they attempted to sell the notebook on behalf of a man who says he discovered LW’s previous belongings in a vehicle that was formerly held by Cash Money Records.
Lil Wayne protested and asked to get his work returned. His lawyers sent Moments in Time a cease and desist letter, claiming the latter had no legal right to market the lyrics. The man who discovered the notebook was also charged with lying and holding out for the right opportunity to make money.
