Kanye West Paid $225K To Buy Back His Childhood House In Chicago!
Kim Kardashian’s husband Kanye West was recently named one of the members of the billionaires club with a net worth of 1.3 billion by Forbes. But did you know Kanye dropped $225k to buy back his childhood home in Chicago? Yes you read it right, the man is proud of his birth town and the story is adorable. Read on to know.
Kanye West was born in the South Shore neighbourhood where his heart still belongs. Kanye owns a house in Calabasas in California and a ranch in Wyoming, but still loves the house he grew up in, UN Chicago. The house which Kanye’s mom bought in the 1980s was sold in 2004. But the house was bought back by Kanye and Rhymefest in 2017 with plans of making it into a studio.
Turned out the two fell apart later and droped the plan. Called Art Of Culture Inc now, the house is finally Kanye’s and he has taken a permit to renovate it recently. The rapper bought the whole property for himself by paying a whooping $225k according WGN9 news. The report further states that the cost of repair is said to be $60,000.
Kanye was recently announced amongst the billionaires list by Forbes with a net worth of 1.3 billion. But later Kanye made to headlines when he revealed that the publication was off by a gap of $2 Billion.
$225 thousand means nothing to billionaire Kanye West as the superstar rapper has reportedly bought back his Chicago childhood home fort hat amount.
In photos shared by The Sun UK, the house is in a derelict state with broken windows, demolished doors, dirt and trash lying around.
The house is reportedly falling apart and will need at least another $60,000 worth of repairs but that should not be an issue either considering West’s networth.
The Sun UK reports that it would be cheaper to demolish the home rather than fix it.
On the outside, the boards that hold the home together are coming apart and the roof is crumbling with several shingles missing. The home has also become a dumpster, and every corner is covered in crumbled water bottles and even seemingly drug paraphernalia. The backyard door is also boarded up. The windows are also broken. The remaining doors have been bolted with hefty locks and there is glass around them, meaning someone may have vandalized the home or tried to break in.
Additionally, there is no fence around the home, except a poorly-placed chainlink fence to keep people off the property. Even insects have made their property their home as it is covered in cobwebs and spiders.
The wooden floors have been destroyed, and the closet doors have been ripped from their hinges. All that’s left in one room is a bed frame and some items of clothing. Mold has also started to take over.
Kanye’s late mother Donda originally bought the house in 1980 but sold the property in 2004 when she moved to California to be Kanye’s manager.
She was an English professor at Chicago State University. She died in 2007 from cardiac arrest after having a series of cosmetic procedures.
In 2016, rapper Che Smith better known as Rhymefest started Donda’s Home charity in order to pay tribute to his childhood friend’s mother while also trying to help at-risk youth.
However, Kanye ties with Rhymefest because of a dispute with his wife, Kim Kardashian.
Falling the fall out, Rhymefest took Donda West’s name off the non-profit.
The original plan was for the home to serve as the charity’s headquarters, complete with a recording studio and a museum but that never happened.
Kanye is yet to reveal plans for the house now that he has ownership of it.
