Many were taken aback when the billionaire businessman and father of music artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, gave N1 billion to the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church’s centennial Endowment Fund.
He gave the donation on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at the C&S Church headquarters in Lagos, in memory of his late mother, Madam Esther Adeleke.
“We would like to make a donation to the Centenary Endowment Fund on behalf of our late mother, Mrs. Esther Adeleke, the senior mother in Israel. We are making a N1 billion contribution,” he declared.
Among the dignitaries present was Governor Dapo Abidoun, who grinned and praised the head of the Adeleke dynasty for the action.
Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, together with Davido, were also present.
The Adeleke family was complimented by Deputy Baba Aladura Harold Demuren for their generosity.
“The Adeleke family and its members are exceptional treasures. According to Demuren, an aeronautical engineer and the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), “They serve the Lord and humanity in humility and consistency.”
The Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church was established by Pa Moses Orimolade Tunolase and will celebrate its centennial in 2025.
