Latto claims Lil’ Kim is the best female rapper of all times. The “Big Energy” hitmaker dropped by Complex for an edition of “GOAT Talk” with her sister Brooklyn Nikole Tuesday (Aug. 13).
Apart from talking about their red flags in a relationship, Atlanta music classics and more, the couple also argued the top women in the Hip Hop scene. As would be predicted, Nikole named her sibling: “I’m actually going to have to say you. I am not even acting with bias. I pay closest attention to you.
But I am the GOAT, though. That’s all that counts; I am my GOAT. She then declared her choice, “But the GOAT is Lil’ Kim, for sure.” [She is a fashion guru with classic music and looks. [She’s] going to be a pillar in not only female but also rap for life.
She is indeed a queen, real. Like off- camera, I adore b**ch. She said, citing the MC’s “Big Momma Thang,” “I love her; she’s big mama too.”July saw Latto queried by Billboard whether her “Big Mama” connected to the album stated above from the 1990s. “No, I promise God not. When my producers reminded me of that, I thought, “Oh, s**t.” The musician said, “I hope [she] not take that as offensive like I’m tryna run off with her swag.” “But I spell my [differently]. And Kim [ loves] me down.
Inspired by the “Magic Stick” rapper also was Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Latto’s most current album. She said, “Let’s start there as I feel as though what I’m doing has never been done before. From Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, and Lil’ Kim, aesthetically I’ve been drawing inspiration. [Musically], I have been drawing from Kelis, but clearly with a Southern Hip Hop flavor.
Features from Young Nudy, Coco Jones, Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara and more abound in Sugar Honey Iced Tea. It also housed past songs including “Sunday Service” featuring Cardi B and “Put It On Da Floor Again.”
