Lil Wayne exceeds Illinois State Fair grandstand attendance records

Officials from the Illinois State Fair said that 15,427 people came to see Lil Wayne perform on Wednesday. The rapper beat a record set in 2011.

In 2011, Jason Aldean sold 15,329 tickets, making them the most popular act. In 2014, Florida Georgia Line sold 15,204 tickets, making them the second most popular act. Reba McEntire led the way with 14,823 sales in 2019, and Hootie and the Blowfish came in second with 13,956 sales in 1995.

Gov. JB Pritzker said, “The Illinois State Fair brings people together.” “At our naturalization ceremony yesterday, we welcomed nearly 200 new citizens from 49 different countries.” Lil Wayne broke records for the most people attending a show that night. All kinds of people from different religions, walks of life, and musical tastes were able to come together at both events and enjoy what makes them unique.

Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, said, “Our team worked hard to make sure that the Grandstand had something for everyone. Lil Wayne is a rap legend.” “Breaking the previous attendance records shows how important it is for the Illinois State Fair to have a wide range of events.”

The Smashing Pumpkins play in the grandstand on Friday night, Miranda Lambert on Saturday night, and Shaboozey on Sunday night to end the fair. You can still buy concert tickets at the Grandstand box office or online at ticketmaster.com.
