Do we find this surprising?
Kanye West says several things in a 2022 interview that was just made public with conservative activist Candace Owens. It’s to be expected for Ye, whose standing in the public eye has arguably never been worse than it is at the moment.
The interview covers a wide range of subjects and was recorded soon after Ye made antisemitic remarks that cost him his most prominent sponsorships. Ye responds to the remarks and “White Lives Matter” propaganda. He praises Drake and Jay-Z, two musicians he had a falling out with in the past. When talking about inspirations, he refers to the former as the best of all time in terms of sales and the latter as the greatest of all time.
He also says in the interview that he thought about renaming himself “Christian Billionaire Ye.” “Ye is my name. It appears that you are referring to Caitlyn Jenner as “Bruce.” Ye is my name. Ye says in the video, “Also, call me ‘Billionaire.’ Christian Billionaire Ye. “Matter of fact, I may legally change my name to ‘Christian Billionaire Ye’, so you’re forced to call me it.” Any ranking of Ye’s most dubious moves would have placed a name change like that toward the bottom.
“Christian Billionaire Ye” was the goal that Kanye West set for himself.
It is hardly shocking that Kanye West and Candace Owens sat down. Owens saw Ye present the “White Lives Matter” shirts at the fashion presentation, and she even wore one. It’s unknown whether their friendship has changed since the interview was filmed, although the two were friends at the time.
Ye has a reputation for destroying relationships, even with people who appear to share his views. According to Owens, the reason she put off the interview so long was because she was awaiting “the right time.” Presumably, she thought that this was the appropriate moment.
Vultures 2, the second in what is planned to be a trilogy of albums produced in collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, was just published by Kanye West. Even Ye’s strongest admirers have referred to the album as a dud, with the majority of reviews being negative. Our review of the most recent release is available here. It’s unlikely that “Christian Billionaire Ye” would have gained traction, but thinking otherwise is a very “Kanye” notion.
