Big Sean Signs With New Label After 10 Years With Roc Nation: “I’m So Excited”

Roc Nation was Big Sean’s home for a decade. After ten years with Roc Nation, Big Sean has decided to switch labels and is now signed to S10 Entertainment. Launched in 2017 in collaboration with Roc Nation, the company is headed by Brandon Silverstein. This change is in anticipation of his upcoming album, Better Me Than You.

Brandon “shares the vision,” “understands where I’m headed,” and “I’m incredibly excited to work with him and the S10 team,” Sean stated in a statement to Billboard. Big Sean is an amazing artist who, according to Silverstein, is only at the beginning of his career despite having topped charts, broken records, won accolades, and headlined concerts all over the globe. When the new music is out, I will be overjoyed.

August 9th will mark Sean’s debut album release, Better Me Than You. Earlier this month, he released a project video that featured four pie charts as its last image. After that, Sean took to social media to clarify that the four feelings he had while recording the album are reflected in them. He described his feelings as “the same four emotions, really” while recording the album. On a separate occasion, I sat down and made a chart that basically depicted my emotions. I created it by hand and thought, “Wow, I’ve never seen this chart before.”

I got it animated,” he continued. and the four charts stand for the four distinct emotions that I was experiencing at the time, as well as the four distinct moods that the album evokes. There was a great deal of strain on me, to begin with. But the clarity that came from overcoming that pressure allowed me to center my attention on happiness, which I experienced for a little while before returning to the strain. But making these charts truly helped me visualize the album’s themes. In 2020, Sean will begin work on his first project for Detroit 2.
