On Thursday, the 29-year-old tweeted, “I’m not mentioning the dead in my songs no more or performing songs with their name in it,” before signing off as “big Smurk.”

Without “mentioning the dead in my songs” or “performing songs with their name in it,” Lil Durk vowed to keep his music free of such content.

“Why do people always show their love when someone dies, but when you’re here, they could care less? Love me now, not later,” he tweeted two days prior, ending with a tear-emoji.

In a separate post, the rapper revealed, “Von left us Dthang left us and I was lost.”

Tragic events have befallen Durk’s family in the previous two years.

A 32-year-old drill rapper from Chicago named Edai was fatally shot two times in the back and six times in the abdomen and chest early in the morning a few days ago.

The Black Disciples gang was allegedly Edai and Durk’s associate.

Outside of Club O, a strip club in Harvey, Illinois, on June 6, OTF DThang, Durk’s older brother, was murdered.

Tragically, a gunfight broke out at an Atlanta nightclub last November, killing 26-year-old King Von, a fellow rapper from Chicago whom Durk lovingly referred to as his “twin,” according to Uproxx.

After armed burglars broke into the Atlanta house of rapper Durk on July 11, his girlfriend India Cox and he both drew weapons and fired fire.

Although neither Durk nor Cox were hurt, they were both named as victims by the investigating officers.

A shooting incident that occurred outside Atlanta’s The Varsity restaurant on February 5, 2019, has Durk facing multiple charges, including a criminal street gang charge and an attempt to commit murder, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
