Cardi B Acknowledges Lil Durk’s Talent After His Verse on “Нот Տh*т” with Kanye West

On July 2, 2022, Cardi B released her song “Hоt Sh*t,” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk. In an interview with Hоt 97’s Nessa, Cardi B not only discussed the collaboration but also praised Lil Durk for his consistent hard work and growth in the music industry.

 

 

Before working together, Cardi B admitted that she had only observed Lil Durk’s dedication and hustle in his career.

 

“You know I never (until I did the video) met Lil Durk or had an interaction with him and everything, but I just feel like he’s doing his thing for sure and he just shows this is what happens when you have patience,” she said.

Cardi B also revealed that she had seen him performing in strip clubs while he was signed to French Montana. But now, his perseverance has paid off, and he’s selling out arenas around the world.

 

“People have seen him grow into that. Sometimes I feel like certain rappers, you just feel like if you don’t make it right away, you’re never gonna make it. It’s like, no, you’ve got to grinԀ it out… and he grinded it out,” she added.

Cardi B also shared that the song initially only featured her and Kanye West, but she felt it needed another voice.

“We had the Kanye verse, but I still felt like it was missing something and it was too short. I had to take a part of my verse to make it like a hook. I thought it’s still missing somebody, and somebody said ‘Lil Durk,’ and I’m like, well, I’ve never worked with him before, and I wonder how it’s gonna be.”

Cardi B explained that Lil Durk immediately sent back a verse, and she was thrilled by his enthusiasm for the song.

“Literally, they sent him the song, and the next day, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, he sent his verse already.’ I’m like, ‘What! That’s amazing! That’s great. That means he liked the song, that means he liked it for real,’ and that made me feel great for real… he’s feeling it.”

Cardi B also shared that Kanye West had heard the song months before, but he had been dealing with family issues regarding his children. She was relieved to hear that he liked the record, as people around him kept saying he was enjoying it.

In addition to discussing the collaboration, Cardi B provided an album update. She expressed her desire to feature Lil Kim on the album and is considering another collaboration with the iconic rapper.

“I do have a song that I think, like, ‘alright, she’s good for it,’ but I’m also debating on another song. I kinda want her in this one too. What I really wаnted to do is like an ‘Aunt Dot’ with her, but I’m kinda debating, is that going to be a little outdated?” Cardi said.

She wants the song they work on together to be a great comeback for Lil Kim and is keen on ensuring it’s a significant moment in her career.

While she hasn’t finalized which song Lil Kim will feature on, she has informed Lil Kim about her upcoming album. Cardi B also mentioned that she wants to work with Megan Thee Stallion again and is looking for a collaboration that can surpass the success of “WAP.”
