Speaking out about the recent dispute between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, Snoop Dogg lauded the two heavy hitters in hip-hop for bringing poetry back into the spotlight.
Snoop praised both rappers in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he addressed the much-discussed dispute and promoted his role in The Garfield Movie.
“Well, my only comment on the whole situation is that I want to commend both of them for really stepping it up in terms of songwriting, lyrical content, and overall quality of songwriting since the cоnfrоntatiоn,” he stated.
“Those are my nephews,” he continued. I have no business being involved. That is none of my concern, but I do support both of them.
According to Snoop, they brought rapping back into the spotlight and revolutionized the business. No more fumbling and mumbling your way through a song, my friend. So, I’m grateful.
After Drake employed AI to sample the voice of a West Coast superstar for his contentious diss track “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which was subsequently taken down due to legal threats from 2Pac’s estate, Tha Doggfather did get engaged in the bаttle to a lesser extent.
The computer-generated Snoop rapped on the track, saying, “Dot, you know that the D-O-G never fucƙιng doubted you/ But right now it seem like you posted up without a clue of what the fucƙ you ’bout to do.”
This native of Long Beach wasted no time expressing his amused reaction to his “feature” on social media once the song went live.”What did they do?” On what date? Just how? Do you assure me? In a short Instagram video, he apologized and wished everyone a happy night. Why is everyone blaspheming and calling my phone? Oh my god, what the fucƙ happened? Does something happen? I’m returning to my slumber. Evening, sir.
When Snoop later uploaded “Taylor Made Freestyle” on Instagram Stories with the caption: “90s Hip Hop Forever,” several fans assumed he co-signed the song.
Since Snoop and Kendrick have been friends for a long time and have worked together on multiple projects (including a Suρer Bowl performance), some fans were suspiciоus.
