Caitlin Clark speaks out about Ice Cube’s $5M offer to join the Big3 league, revealing that she was unaware of it as her team did not inform her
Caitlin Clark has addressed the $5 million offer from Ice Cube’s Big3 League, admitting that she was kept in the dark by her team until the news went public.
Ice Cube, along with Jeff Kwatinetz, co-founder of Big3, confirmed the substantial offer to the college basketball star earlier this week. However, Clark, who is currently focused on competing in March Madness with Iowa, stated that she was unaware of the offer until it became public knowledge.
Speaking ahead of Iowa’s Sweet 16 matchup against Colorado, the 22-year-old emphasized that her current priority is the tournament and that she hasn’t discussed the offer with anyone on her team. She stated, “I honestly don’t talk about those things with really anybody. I have other people that deal with it. They haven’t said a word to me about it.”
Clark reiterated her focus on helping her team succeed in March Madness, stating, “And, my main focus is on this team and helping us find a way to beаt Colorado and hopefully win another one after that.”
The offer from Big3 entails Clark playing up to 10 games in the league, including eight regular-season games and two potential playoff fixtures. She would also receive additional compensation from sponsorship or merchandise deals and would be allowed to play in the WNBA while participating in Big3. However, only two WNBA games would cоnflict with the Big3 schedule.
Despite the lucrative offer, Clark has been advised by former NBA star Reggie Theus to prioritize her dream of playing in the WNBA. Theus believes that while the Big3 would present a significant challenge, ultimately, Clark’s childhood aspiration of playing in the WNBA should guide her decision-making process.
