Lil Durk Offers to Pay Half of LeBron and Bronny James’ Salaries to Join the Chicago Bulls: “It’s Time”
Lil Durk is making a bold bid to bring LeBron James and his son Bronny James to the Chicago Bulls, both figuratively and literally.
On Tuesday (June 25), Durk shared a segment of a conversation between himself and LeBron on social media, where they exchanged friendly greetings. In the message, the rapper asked the Los Angeles Lakers star and his son, former USC Trojan Bronny, to consider playing for the Chicago Bulls in the upcoming NBA season.
“You and Bronny come to the Chicago Bulls,” Durk proposed to James, adding, “shid I’ll pay you if I got to.” He shared this message on his Instagram Story, emphasizing his willingness to contribute financially to bring the father-son duo to his hometown team. “Idc if I got to go half,” he added, tagging the Chicago Bulls’ social media account. “It’s time.”
Lil Durk’s comments come ahead of the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft, in which Bronny James is eligible to be drafted by an NBA team. It is speculated that whichever organization selects Bronny could increase their chances of signing LeBron, as he has expressed his desire to play on the same team as his son.
LeBron James holds a player option for the 2024-25 season and could potentially enter free agency, giving him the opportunity to sign with any team in the NBA. Bronny, who played one season at USC, is currently projected to be a late second-round pick in most mock drafts.
Durk’s admiration for LeBron’s basketball skills has been reciprocated by James in the past. The NBA star considers the Chicago native one of the most talented rappers on the court. In 2022, LeBron praised Durk during an episode of his HBO show Uninterrupted, stating, “Lil Durk can hoop.” This praise elicited a proud response from Durk, who declared that he didn’t “want to hear sh*t nomo from nobody” about who the best baller in Hip-Hop is.
