Lil Durk Attempts to Recruit LeBron James & His Son to Chicago Bulls: ‘I’ll Pay You If I Have To’

Lil Durk wants to see his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls, return to championship form, and he’s eyeing LeBron James and his son, Bronny, as key players to make that happen. The rapper has taken it upon himself to try and recruit the NBA star and his son to the Windy City, even offering to put up his own money to sweeten the deal.

Durk reached out to LeBron James via Instagram, testing the waters to see if the legendary player would consider a move to Chicago alongside his son, Bronny James, who is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

“You and Bronny come to Chicago Bulls, I’ll pay you if I have to,” Durk wrote to James.

He didn’t stop there. Durk amplified his recruitment pitch by sharing the message on his Instagram Story, doubling down on his offer to cover half of James’ salary. “I don’t care if I have to go half @ChicagoBulls it’s time lol,” he added.

LeBron has not publicly responded to Durk’s proposal. However, he has some significant decisions to make regarding his future. He can either accept a $51.4 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers or opt-out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

A key factor in LeBron’s decision-making process is his desire to play alongside his son, Bronny. This dynamic makes Bronny a potential bargaining chip for any team looking to attract LeBron. Whichever franchise drafts Bronny could potentially entice LeBron to join them, even if it’s not immediately.

The Chicago Bulls, who haven’t won a playoff series since 2015, would need to trade with the Lakers for LeBron due to their current cap space limitations. This recruitment effort by Durk adds an intriguing twist to the upcoming NBA Draft and free agency period.

The NBA Draft takes place on Wednesday (June 26) and Thursday (June 27), while free agency starts on Sunday (June 30). It remаins to be seen if Lil Durk’s bold move will influence the future of LeBron and Bronny James.
