Lil Durk recently rewarded a group of school students with $100 each after they performed with him during his tour with Drake and J. Cole.

The Chicago rapper invited 12 public school children from Pittsburgh to join him on stage at the PPG Paints Arena this past weekend to perform his Grammy-winning song “All My Life.”

Dr. Kimberley Price, Coordinator of Performing Arts for Pittsburgh Public Schools, shared with CBS how the performance was organized.

“The two schools brought 20 students from different age groups, ranging from high school to sixth and fifth grades. Teachers dedicated their weekends to support the kids,” Dr. Price said.

“To have a team come together like they did, from our communications department to our teachers who gave up half of a Saturday, shows people want our kids to succeed, and our kids do.”

Price also praised Durk’s interaction with the children: “He was so gracious with the kids. He gave high fives and fist bumps. When it came time for photos, he stepped aside so the kids could shine.

“Our kids were so excited, some were in tears. It was an unforgettable moment to see the kids do so well and be treated so well by an artist. They won’t forget it either.”

She also revealed that Durk gave each child $100 after the performance.

Lil Durk was recently added to the “It’s All a Blur — Big as the What?” Tour as an opener for Drake and J. Cole, and will continue performing with them until April.

Known as the “Neighborhood Hero,” Durk has previously been commended for his community efforts, including meeting with Chicago’s mayor Brandon Johnson to discuss ways to improve children’s lives in the city.

Last year, he launched a scholarship fund with Amazon Music to help students attend college, with the first two recipients receiving scholarships for Howard University.

Durk also donated $250,000 to Howard University’s GRACE Grant, a program designed to assist students in need of tuition support.
