Ice Cube Partners with Jack In The Box for ‘Munchie Meal’ 16 Years After Releasing Song of the Same NameBy Amber Corrine

O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson has teamed up with Jack In The Box to launch his signature “Munchie Meal.” This collaboration comes 16 years after the West Coast legend released a single of the same nаme, a term he uses to describe someone getting too “big-headed.”

Ice Cube is now the second rapper to partner with the fast-food chain, following Snoop Dogg’s “Dogg in Tha Box” meal in 2023. According to Jack In The Box, the 54-year-old was chosen for his “cultural presence and consumer appeal that caters to the rowdy, late-night vibes we know and love.”

“I eat Jack in the Box, so I like to do things that are authentic, and so I felt that was perfect,” Cube told VIBE. “They were down to collaborate and come up with something cool that fits both brands. They came to me for a reason. Jack in the Box is happy, and Ice Cube fans are happy, too — if you do something that the fans don’t connect with, you’re defeating your own purpose.”

What’s in the “Munchie Meal”?The “Munchie Meal” is tailored for late nights after the club or following an energy-consuming show. It includes Jack’s iconic items: the Chick-N-Tater Melt, Jack Taco, seasoned curly fries, mini churros, and a small Sprite. Ice Cube will also star in three national commercials alongside the Jack in the Box mascot, promoting the limited-time meal priced at $12.

Cube’s Reflections on the PartnershipIn an exclusive interview with VIBE, Ice Cube shared his thoughts on the partnership and his connection to Jack In The Box.

VIBE: In 2008, you released the song “Jack N The Box,” and now you have your own meal. Did you ever think you’d be collaborating with the franchise?

Ice Cube: I always hoped for something like this. The song came about because a friend, who passed away in 2021, used to sаy when someone got too big-headed, they went ‘Jack in the box.’ It became a term within our crew, and I did a song about it. I hoped it would lead to something like this, but I didn’t count on it.

Why did you decide to partner with Jack In The Box?

I eat Jack in the Box, so it felt authentic. They were open to ideas from our camp, and we wаnted to ensure both brands were happy with the outcome. We aimed to create something that would connect with both Jack in the Box and Ice Cube fans.

Cube’s Criteria for CollaborationsWhen considering collaborations, Ice Cube prioritizes authenticity and a genuine connection with his audience. He believes that if the fans don’t connect with the product, it defeats the purpose. He aims for unique, enduring projects that resonate beyond just a commercial transaction.

Thoughts on Celebrity Influence in the Age of Social MediaDespite the rise of social media influencers, Ice Cube believes celebrities still hold significant power if people like and admire them. He maintains that genuine admiration from fans can have a lasting impact, regardless of the platform.

Future Aspirations and ReflectionsReflecting on his career, Cube expressed contentment with his achievements in music, movies, and sports. He remаins focused on continuing his work in these fields while pushing his basketball league to new heights. He believes every experience, both good and bad, has contributed to his growth in the business.

VIBE: With everything you’ve achieved, what advice would you give your younger self?

Ice Cube: I’d tell young Cube, ‘Keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t change anything.’ Every experience, even the tough ones, taught me valuable lessons and helped me grow in the business.
