Ice Cube has partnered with Australian tech start-up MyPremo, a content monetization platform offering a “clean space” for artists to monetize their work. MyPremo, founded in 2020 by Perth-based entrepreneurs Cody McDowell and James Gillies, aims to “redefine the landscape” of the music industry, allowing creators to earn without compromising their values.

MyPremo’s innovative model reportedly allows artists and creators to retain 80% of the revenue from their monetized content. Ice Cube, the legendary founder of N.W.A. with tens of milliоns of album sales and over $3 billiоn in box office revenue, is a prominent supporter of this platform.

“Artists and creators need better tools to go direct to consumer,” Ice Cube said in a statement. “Let’s create a world where every piece of content finds its true value. Timing is important, and there are big changes happening in the music business right now. Direct-to-consumer solutions will be the artists’ biggest earners.”

Cody McDowell emphasized the struggles faced by artists, noting that earnings from giants like Spotify and YouTube are minimal. He criticized the lack of alternatives for ‘clean creators’ outside of platforms like OnlyFans, which often rely on X-rаted content. “The current ecosystem stifles creative potential, compelling creators to hustle harder for less and leaving ‘clean’ content with no rightful throne,” McDowell stated.

MyPremo positions itself as the solution, providing a platform for musicians, filmmakers, athletes, and other creatives who do not wish to devalue their work with salacious content. The platform simplifies content sales to just a few taps and ensures that 80% of revenue goes directly to the creator. Additionally, artists who refer friends and colleagues to the platform can earn an extra 5% of their referred sign-ups’ revenue for life, incentivizing broader adoption.

According to a press release, MyPremo can function as a “link in bio” on social media channels, serving as a one-stop shop for followers to access an artist’s music, information, and direct support.

Ice Cube toured Australia in March 2023 with special guests Cypress Hill and A.B. Original, marking his return since making history as the first rapper to headline the Sydney Opera House in 2018. This tour coincided with the 30th anniversary of his 1993 album, Lethal Injection.
