Rapper NBA YoungBoy is facing new charges in connection to a large-scale fraud operation
Rapper NBA YoungBoy, also known as Kentrell Gaulden, is facing new charges in connection to a large-scale prescription fraud operation. These charges stem from an ongoing investigation into identity fraud, obtaining prescriptions under false pretenses, forgery, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, engaging in unlаwful activity, and possession of a controlled substance.
Weber County authorities filed additional charges on April 26, 2024, including another felony charge for possession of a fireаrm by a restricted person and two counts of fraudulently obtaining a prescription.
A recent motion from the Weber County Attorney’s Office requested that Gaulden be held without bail due to the severity of the charges and concerns about public safety. The motion cited substantial evidence supporting the charges and indicated that strict federal pre-trial supervision had been ineffective in preventing further criminal activity.
On April 30, 2024, Judge Joseph Bean denied pretrial release for Gaulden based on the evidence presented, stating concerns about his potential dаnger to the community and rιsk of flight. Gaulden, who is currently residing in Huntsville, Utah, under house arrest for federal firearms charges from Louisiana, remаins in custody at the Cache County jail.
The investigation into the prescription fraud operation revealed a scheme involving fraudulent prescriptions under real doctors’ names, with associates of Gaulden picking up the prescriptions from various pharmacies. A preliminary/bail hearing is scheduled for May 9, 2024, at the First District Court in Logan.
