Lil Baby’s Memphis Concert Ends Prematurely Due to Incident

Lil Baby’s concert in Memphis on September 7 came to an abrupt halt after a member of the audience at the FedExForum was shot and wоunded.

Memphis Police responded to the scene around 10:23 p.m. that evening, while the injured individual was transported to Regional One Health Hospital in critical condition, as per a statement released by the Department on X (formerly Twitter). The identity of the assailant remаins unknown at present.

Footage captured by fans during the concert suggests that the altercation occurred while Lil Baby and Rylo Rodriguez were performing, prompting both artists to swiftly retreat backstage upon realizing that a gunshot had been fired. Videos also depict a male victim being evacuated from the venue on a stretcher.

Variety has reached out to Lil Baby’s representatives for comment.

Memphis rapper Glorilla was also slated to make an appearance at the event, which was one of several dates on Lil Baby’s “It’s Only Us” tour, launched earlier in July. The tour is scheduled to conclude on September 22 at the FLA Live Arena in Ft. Lauderdale.

This incident echoes a similar occurrence during Lil Baby’s 2020 concert in Birmingham, Ala., where gunfire erupted onstage, prompting the rapper and attendees to flee for safety. The victim was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lil Baby has emerged as one of the most prominent stars in the last half-decade, largely fueled by the success of his 2020 album “My Turn,” which spent five weeks at No. 1, achieved quadruple platinum certification, and was the most consumed album of 2020. While his subsequent solo release, “It’s Only Me,” didn’t replicate the same level of chart-topping singles, it still debuted at No. 1 last fall and attained platinum certification.
