DJ Khaled orchestrated a star-studded performance for the NBA on the night of February 19, enlisting the talents of Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, Migos, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris, and Gunna.
The event, dubbed ‘DJ Khaled & Friends’, was a highlight of the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend, which took place in Cleveland, Ohio. This annual event features a variety of performances and exhibitions, culminating in the NBA All-Star Game.
The electrifying eight-minute performance saw DJ Khaled joined by his esteemed colleagues one after the other. Lil Baby kicked off the festivities with a rendition of ‘Every Chance I Get’, followed by Gunna performing his track ‘Pushin P’. Migos then took the stage with ‘We Going Crazy’, while Mary J. Blige captivated the audience with her latest single ‘Amazing’.
Lil Wayne made a memorable return with ‘We Takin Over’, a song he hadn’t performed in over a decade. Finally, Ludacris concluded the show with an energetic performance of his verse on DJ Khaled’s ‘All I Do Is Win’.
The excitement didn’t end there, as the NBA All-Star Game on February 20 promised a halftime presentation featuring Usher and Spike Lee. Earth, Wind & Fire were set to close the festivities with a rendition of ‘Shining Star’, while Macy Gray was scheduled to perform ‘The Star Spangled Banner’.
Mary J. Blige, who had also graced the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Los Angeles the previous Sunday (February 13), marked her second All-Star performance in a week. At the Super Bowl, she shared the stage with music icons Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and a surprise appearance by 50 Cent.
Speaking of 50 Cent, the rapper responded to criticism regarding his appearance during his surprise performance at the Super Bowl. Despite recreating scenes from his iconic ‘In Da Club’ music video, 50 Cent was teased for wearing a tank top instead of going shirtless as in the original.
In response to the fat-shaming, 50 Cent took a lighthearted approach, stating, “I call this teasing me. They’re just teasing me because they know I can drop the weight. That’s why I laugh with them. Fat shaming only applies when you’re ashamed of your fat. LOL.”
