Lil Durk is currently facing a lawsuit of up to $350,000 for canceling his 2019 concert in Georgia
Lil Durk is currently facing a lawsuit amounting to $350,000 over a missed concert due to his 2019 arrest in connection with a shooting incident in Georgia.
According to TMZ, the lawsuit, which was recently filed, claims that the Chicago rapper was scheduled to perform at Nassau Stadium in The Bahamas. However, he was unable to fulfill his commitment because of the pending felony charges against him at the time. The promoters of the show allege that they had already sent Durk an upfront payment of $24,000 and had spent a substantial amount on promotion and organization for the event.
Durk’s entry into The Bahamas was denied due to the pending charges, which have since been dropped. As a result, he could not attend the scheduled concert. The promoters, known as Fresh Entertainment, accuse Durk of retaining the upfront payment without performing and refusing to agree to reschedule the performance.
Additionally, Fresh Entertainment claims that Durk demanded an additional $200,000 on top of the original fee as a condition for performing at a rescheduled event. Prior to arranging the show, the promoters reportedly inquired with Durk’s team about any legal issues that might affect his ability to perform.
In response to the lawsuit, Durk’s attorney, Ariel Mitchell, stated that the lawsuit lacks merit and is an attempt to divert attention from Durk’s exoneration from the 2019 charges. Mitchell emphasized that the denial of entry into The Bahamas was due to the promoters’ failure to secure a visa, not Durk’s legal issues. He expressed confidence that the lawsuit would be dismissed due to procedural errors and stated that Durk looks forward to resuming touring activities in the near future.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the charges against Durk in connection with the 2019 shooting had been dropped.
