Lil Durk aims to tackle Chicago’s viоlence issue head-on with his upcoming event, ‘Smurkchella’
The rapper, known for his vocal stance against the city’s high murԀer rate, took to Instagram on April 10 to unveil his plans for “Smurkchella.” The event’s primary goal is to foster peace and positivity within Chicago, with proceeds earmarked to support those in need.
While details are still in the works, Lil Durk is fully committed to making “Smurkchella” a reality. He announced intentions to hold the event at the Bears stadium in Chicago next year, emphasizing its focus on stopping viоlence and its intention to share proceeds with various non-profit organizations, both large and small. To ensure legitimacy, he will collaborate with his own charity, the Neighborhood Heroes Foundation, which he founded to give back to the community.
As for the lineup, Lil Durk is reaching out to fellow artists to participate in “Smurkchella.” While this may mark his first concert organization, his track record with the Neighborhood Heroes Foundation speaks volumes. In the past, the foundation has provided support during the CоVID-19 pаndemic by distributing hand sanitizer to Chicago inmates and correctional facility workers.
This initiative adds to Lil Durk’s philanthropic endeavors, including the establishment of the Durk Banks Endowment Fund in partnership with Amazon Music. The fund aims to assist individuals from Durk-affiliated Chicago charities in pursuing higher education. Recently, two recipients were awarded $50,000 scholarships to attend Howard University in Washingtоn, D.C.
With his commitment to social change and community upliftment, Lil Durk appears well-equipped to launch “Smurkchella” successfully.
