50 Cent expressed his desire for Ice Cube to bring his BIG3 League to Louisiana. After attending a basketball game between the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets, 50 Cent took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm and revealed that he discussed business with Ice Cube during the event. He captioned his post with the announcement, stating, “I told @icecube I want to bring the big 3 to Shreveport, all roads lead to Shreveport it’s a go!”
Ice Cube’s BIG3 League operates with 12 active teams in a “barnstorming” format, where teams travel to various locations for exhibition games rather than being based in one city. The league’s recent season saw teams visiting cities like Dallas, Brooklyn, Memphis, and Miami, among others.
As for 50 Cent, he established a presence in Louisiana in 2023 by acquiring a lease for a city-owned studio in Shreveport. The lease agreement, approved by the city council, allowed G-Unit Films to manage and maintain the studio for a period of 30 years, with an option for renewal for another 15 years.
Louisiana Councilwoman Tabitha Taylor emphasized the positive impact of 50 Cent’s presence on the local entertainment industry and businesses, referring to Shreveport as an emerging entertainment hub. Following the announcement, 50 Cent took to social media to announce the return of G-Unit Studios to Louisiana, inviting those interested in film and television work to join the venture.
