In a recent appearance on the All The Smoke podcast, Snoop Dogg opened up about his commitment to supporting Hip-Hop pioneers in need, along with his collaboration with 50 Cent in providing both financial and physical assistance.
Snoop emphasized the importance of taking care of the hip-hop community, stating, “You’ve got to take care of your own, you’ve got to set an example.” However, he prefers to keep these acts of generosity private.
“We do it privately. I’ve done it many years with some of the artists that needed help, physically and financially. It’s not a public thing for me. I’m not going to say, ‘I helped him.’ But when they did that publicly, that’s what it’s supposed to be.”
Encouraging other successful artists to follow his lead, Snoop highlighted the significance of respecting elders in the industry. He emphasized that artists who have achieved success should extend their support to those facing difficulties.
“Respect your elders because you’re making all this money, not that you have to, but if you love this rapper, and you see that he’s down on his luck, he may need money but he has pride. He can’t even ask you, because he used to be you,” Snoop advised.
Additionally, Snoop shared that 50 Cent has joined forces with him on multiple occasions to provide assistance to fellow rappers. “There’s been many times where me and 50 Cent have called some of our O.G.’s and put bags on ’em,” he revealed.
While Snoop did not disclose specific names, he emphasized that both he and 50 Cent have a genuine commitment to supporting their fellow artists. “That’s who we are, that’s who me and 50 are,” Snoop stated. “It’s happened a few times, that’s why I can bring [50’s] name up.”
