42 Dugg Unites Detroit Icons at Sold-Out “Welcome Home” Show Featuring Lil Baby, Lil Durk, and More
On Friday night, January 19, 42 Dugg created history with his star-studded “Welcome Home” show, boasting appearances by prominent artists such as Lil Baby, Yo Gotti, Lil Durk, Meek Mill, Black Youngsta, Dej Loaf, and special guests Gille and Wallo from Million Dollaz Worth of Game. Notably, the event marked a significant moment as 42 Dugg successfully ended the long-standing competitive feud between local groups Team Eastside and Doughboyz Cashout.
Team Eastside, comprising solo acts like Icewear Vezzo, Babyface Ray, Peezy, G.T., and more, and Doughboyz Cashout, led by Payroll Giovani and others, have been rival groups in the Detroit scene. Bringing these legendary groups together on one stage showcased Dugg’s ability to unite the city, drawing a massive crowd. The concert received endorsements from Big Sean, Jeezy, and other Detroit luminaries.
Meek Mill, expressing his admiration on social media, stated, “42 Dugg put on for Detroit tonight… and I love the way y’all don’t let the petty s**t get to the point [where] y’all can’t be on the same stage… The world needed to see that! RIP DEX OSAMA RIP JOOK.”
In response to Meek Mill’s post, 42 Dugg expressed his appreciation, saying, “Appreciate you, my n**ga.” The concert marked a celebration of Dugg’s return to his hometown and the music scene after being incarcerated in May 2022, with his release from prison in October 2023. Upon his release, Yo Gotti picked him up, and they immediately headed to the studio at Dugg’s request.
The XXL Freshman alum wrapped up 2023 by releasing two new singles, “SpinDatBac” and “Go Again.” Before his incarceration, he delivered the acclaimed project “Free Dem Boyz,” featuring collaborations with Future, Lil Durk, Fivio Foreign, Roddy Ricch, and EST Gee. The album debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and included the hit “4 Da Gang,” reaching the top 25 of Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs.
