Rick Ross’ Life and Career to Be Focus of Georgia State University Law Class

Higher education and hip-hop have long coexisted, and this semester at Georgia State University, a legal studies course will explore the life of Rick Ross. The course, “Legal Life of Rick Ross,” was identified by Hip Hop Wired and will be taught by Moraima Ivory, a professor of law and the director of the Entertainment, Sports & Media Law Initiative at the George State University College of Law in Atlanta. According to the Miami Herald, the session begins each day with a Rick Ross song to immerse pupils in the artist’s perspective before delving deeply into his financial acumen.

“You get to see how he has built this empire that he has amassed,” Ivory stated to the outlet. “He has done it in equity, positioning, brand partnerships, music, and real estate.” The fourth installment of Ivory’s “Legal Life Of” series will highlight Rick Ross’s business ventures, coming after features on Ludacris, Steve Harvey, and Kandi Burris.

Regarding the class, which takes place on the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Ivory said, “People really dismiss the business and the legal aspect of what goes on in the person’s career and they have a perception that hip-hop is one big party.” “These individuals—the ones I studied, or anyone in this field, for that matter—never have to learn how to be a businessperson in addition to their creative abilities.”

Ross is scheduled to attend the class as well. The Grammy-nominated rapper added in a comprehensive statement to the university, “The ‘Biggest’ meets the classroom.” “I’ve always been a student of the game, and I’m excited to pass on my knowledge of hustle to the next generation.”
