Ice Cube hаs disclоsed his selectiоn оf the Tоp 5 bаsketbаll plаyers оf аll time. The renоwned West Cоаst icоn аnd оwner оf the BIG3 leаgue recently shаred his persоnаl fаvоrites in аnticipаtiоn оf the reveаl оf the Nаismith Bаsketbаll Hаll оf Fаme’s inаugurаl Ice Cube Impаct аwаrd.

Born in the late ’60s and maturing during the ’80s, Cube highlighted players who dominated during the NBA’s Golden Age, along with those who represented his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I love Michael Jordan,” the 54-year-old expressed to HipHopDX. “I love Kobe [Bryant]; Shaq [is] incredible,” he continued. “After that, it just starts to get a little blurry for me. But you know, Magic Johnson, he’s definitely out there as one of my favorites. And I love the Iceman, George Gervin.”

On January 15, Cube will be the inaugural recipient of the Ice Cube Impact Award, recognizing his extraordinary contributions to basketball, his unmatched passion for the game, and his unwavering commitment to fostering essential dialogues on inclusivity, equal opportunity, and racial and social justice. This award also acknowledges Cube’s initiatives in education and community development.

The founder of the BIG3 basketball league is not only being honored for his contributions to athletics and inclusion but also for his cultural impact as part of the groundbreaking rap group N.W.A. Recently, it was announced that Cube, Dr. Dre, and their groupmates will receive The Recording Academy’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award during the upcoming Grammy Awards week.

According to the Academy, the Lifetime Achievement Award is “presented by a vote of the Recording Academy’s National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.”

Among the other recipients of the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award are Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, the Clark Sisters, Tammy Wynette, and Laurie Anderson. This acknowledgment reflects the enduring influence and creative significance of these artists in the recording industry.
