21 Sаvаge Unveils “American Dream,” His First Solo Album in Six Years, Serving as the Soundtrack to His Upcoming Film

After a lengthy six-year hiatus, 21 Sаvаge makes a triumphant return with his latest solo studio project, “american dream.”

Spanning 50 minutes across 15 tracks, the album is not only 21 Sаvаge’s musical comeback but also functions as the accompanying soundtrack to his debut film of the same title. The project includes notable guest appearances such as Doja Cat on “n.h.i.e.,” Metro Boomin on “pop ur sҺit” featuring Young TҺug, “dangerous” with Lil Durk, “née-nah” featuring Travis Scott, and “just like me” with Burna Boy. Other collaborators include Summer Walker on “prove it,” Brent Faiyaz on “should’ve worn a bonnet,” and Mariah The Scientist on “dark days.”

The album mirrors 21 Sаvаge’s significant personal growth since his last solo release, “i am > i was,” in 2018. “American Dream” vividly captures the rapper’s triumphs and struggles over the past six years, notably addressing and resolving his immigration issues. With its cohesive narrative, the album offers an intimate look into 21’s life, accentuated by stellar production and brutally honest lyricism. By placing his truths at the forefront, 21 Sаvаge has crafted a project that transcends the shifts in the rap genre. Much like the conclusion of the film’s trailer, “american dream” symbolizes 21 Sаvаge’s reconciliation with his past and pays homage to the various versions of himself that have shaped his story.

The film, titled “American Dream: The 21 Sаvаge Story,” features the artist, Donald Glover, and Caleb McLaughlin portraying three generations of 21 Sаvаge in the midst of a personal crisis. Directed by Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover, along with Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji, the film promises to provide a gripping exploration of the rapper’s life. Stream 21 Sаvаge’s “American Dream” on Spotify and Apple Music, and anticipate the official release date of the accompanying film.
