Ice Cube Responds to Katt Williams’ Claims Regarding ‘Friday After Next’ Film

Ice Cube has taken to social media to address Katt Williams’ controversial statements made during a Club Shay Shay YouTube show interview. Williams criticized Kevin Hart, Cedric the Entertainer, and discussed potential controversial scenes in the Ice Cube film, Friday After Next.

In a nine-minute video response, Ice Cube aimed to clarify several points raised during the interview. One significant issue was Williams’ assertion that Ice Cube had advocated for the removal of a sexual assault scene in the film, featuring Williams’ character, Money Mike, and Terry Crews’ character, Damon, in a bathroom.

Ice Cube vehemently denied the claim, stating, “I would never shoot a rape scene in a movie, especially Friday, where you actually see this happening on camera. That ain’t my style.” He emphasized that the plier joke mentioned in the interview was always part of the script but was never intended to be shown on screen.

Addressing the discrepancy in their recollections, Ice Cube acknowledged that there may be differences in perspectives after over 20 years since the movie’s release. He highlighted that, at the time, they were not willing to change the movie based on an actor’s input, even someone as accomplished as Williams.

Regarding Williams’ claim that he wrote his part for Money Mike, Ice Cube clarified that while the role was written, Williams significantly enhanced it during filming. Ice Cube praised Williams for his contributions, stating, “Money Mike had a small role, about as big as the Santa Claus role, but when we started filming, he was giving so much magic that we kept expanding the role.”

In response to compensation concerns raised by Williams, Ice Cube advised actors to reflect on their careers at the time of filming and their current status. He hinted at the impact of the Friday film on the careers of those involved.

Ice Cube concluded the video expressing love for all the comedians he worked with, emphasizing that he provided opportunities for many individuals in the industry. Despite the differences in recollections and perspectives, he expressed openness to future collaborations in acting roles without the need to produce or write everything himself.
