Hollywood Bowl Orchestral Shows to Honor 30 Years of “Doggystyle” for Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is set to join the esteemed lineup of the Hollywood Bowl’s prestigious 2023 concerts. Titled “Snoop Dogg & Friends – 30th Anniversary of Doggystyle & More” and produced by Dr. Dre, the event is scheduled for June 27-28 at 8 p.m. PT, as announced by the Los Angeles Philharmonic on Tuesday (May 2).

To commemorate the anniversary of his seminal album, Snoop Dogg, a hip-hop pioneer, media personality, and entrepreneur, will be joined by various special guests. The performers will be accompanied by the ReCollective Orchestra under the direction of conductor Derrick Hodge. Tickets for “Snoop Dogg & Friends” will be available for purchase starting Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. PT, and more information can be found on the Hollywood Bowl’s official website.

Originally released in 1993 when the rapper was known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, “Doggystyle” produced two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Snoop’s first as a lead artist with “What’s My Name?” and “Gin and Juice.” The album featured collaborations with Nate Dogg, Warren G., Kurupt, Tha Dogg Pound, and R&B group The Dramatics.

Produced by Dr. Dre following Snoop Dogg’s contributions to the former’s 1992 classic “The Chronic,” “Doggystyle” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and held the top spot for three weeks. The RIAA-certified multiplatinum album set a first-week record for a debut rap album at the time, selling 803,000 copies. “Doggystyle” was released by Death Row Records, which Snoop Dogg now owns, and Interscope Records.

In February, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association unveiled the lineup for the Hollywood Bowl’s summer 2023 season, featuring concerts by Janet Jackson, Ludacris, My Morning Jacket, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Maxwell, Sparks, The Beach Boys, Louis Tomlinson, Diana Krall, Maggie Rogers, a tribute to Quincy Jones, and more. Additionally, John Williams and Gustavo Dudamel will share conducting duties, overseeing the Philharmonic Orchestra playing along with classic film clips on July 7-9.
