Ice Cube’s Special Request for Carmelo Anthony Following Viral Showdown Against Knicks Superstar

Carmelo Anthony may have retired from the NBA over a year ago, but his basketball prowess remains evident. In a recent viral video, the 39-year-old Knicks legend showcased his skills in a showdown with current Knicks forward Julius Randle. The impressive display caught the attention of American rapper Ice Cube, who had a unique request for Anthony.

While urging Anthony to return to the NBA might be a stretch, Ice Cube suggested an alternative avenue that aligns with the love of the game. The rapper, who founded the ‘Big 3’ tournament, posted on X, “Guys like Melo should play in @thebig3, for the culture, love of the game, fans and peers who depend on a league like @thebig3.”

The Big-3 tournament employs a 3v3 format, ideal for Anthony with his unstoppable post moves. Ice Cube sees it as an opportunity for Anthony to stay connected with the game, and, as he pointed out, it’s a positive move for the fans.

The Big 3 has seen numerous retired NBA veterans participating, including Stephen Jackson, Joe Johnson, Al Jefferson, and Michael Beasley. Jackson, a consistent player in the league for several years, led his team ‘Killer 3’ to the championship game in 2019, though they fell short against the ‘Triple 3,’ coached by 19-year NBA veteran Charles Oakley.

Notably, even iconic figures like Allen Iverson joined the Big 3 in 2017, taking on a dual role as a player and coach. Despite playing only nine minutes during the season, Iverson’s involvement added a unique dynamic to the league. However, he opted to step away after just one year in the Big 3.
