Rick Ross Responds After Nicki Minaj Says He Disrespected Her

The Bawse is making a statement. This week, Nicki Minaj blasted Rick Ross for treating her disrespectfully in an interview with Joe Budden about “Apple of My Eye.” In the 2017 song, he rapped, “I told Meek I wouldn’t trust Nicki. Instead of beefin’ with your dog, you just give ’em some distance.” Both Nicki and Ross visited the White House in April 2016 to have meetings with President Obama. Nicki spoke with Obama during their meeting on behalf of Meek, her then-boyfriend, who was on probation.

Afterward, Meek would hear Ross say that Nicki was a “keeper.” “I went and had a meeting with President Obama, and Ross was present. After the meeting, I texted this dude and said, ‘Hey, this chick is a keeper,'” she recalled to Budden. “I witnessed the text and said, ‘This chick is a keeper.'” Finding out why you’re still on probation after all these years and addressing your probation status were the first things she said to Obama as she entered a room full of rappers. During an interview with “The Breakfast Club” on Thursday, the head of Maybach Music addressed Nicki’s comments on “The Joe Budden Podcast.”
“She is a keeper until you find out otherwise if somebody went in to meet Obama with you,” he said to DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne the God. “She was a tremendous talent, but she was playing a very important position at the time. She was around me a few times.” At the time, she stood between Meek and Drake. And coming from a huge buddy like mine, she didn’t realize that playing that role was an extremely delicate one.
Nicki found herself in a difficult situation when her friend Drake and her boyfriend got into a fight. It would be extremely simple to assign her that duty. Even if that wasn’t my intention, it would have been easy to think she was involved when I saw things go awry. And someone is lying if they tell you they didn’t. Everyone advances. She stepped forward, going about her business. Her doing that makes me happy. Meek is holding his own. They’re doing their thing, Drizzy. After all was said and done, that was all I desired to see. Nicki criticized Rozay for tagging her on “Apple of My Eye.” “And then you release an album, trying to disgrace Nicki Minaj when it’s time to sell some weak-ass fucking album,” the woman remarked. “Boy, take a seat on that fat ass.”
