We believe Lil Wayne when he says he won’t collaborate with Birdman again.
Earlier this month, Lil Wayne, also known as Tunechi, Weezy, Mr. Carter, and trigger fingers switched to Twitter when he seemed to be leaving the rap game via social media.
At nine years old, the prepubescent native of New Orleans, Lil Wayne signed with Cash Money Records, marking the beginning of his remarkable career. That is to say, Drake was still getting ready for his Bar Mitzvah when Weezy released his first platinum-selling album. He established his own record company, Young Money Entertainment, in 2005. Tha Carter III, his sixth album, was an extravagant feast for the senses. Even without “Got Money” and “A Milli,” Lil Wayne would have been satisfied if he had just given us “Lollipop.”
Following Wayne’s onstage proclamations to “Fuck Cash Money,” fans were not shocked to discover that Weezy and Birdman had broken up. Rapping, “Rest in peace to the Cash Money Weezy / Gone but not forgotten,” the rapper released his album “Free Weezy” in July 2015 through an exclusive Tidal arrangement. According to reports, in retaliation, Birdman and his group showered the Cash Money turncoat with beverages and water bottles from Club LIV’s VIP area in Miami. In addition, using Cash Money’s exclusive rights to Lil Wayne’s music, Birdman sued Jay Z and Tidal, arguing that he and Lil Wayne are significant power players rather than cast members of Love and Hip-Hop: Miami. “Wayne is my son no matter what,” Birdman declared to journalist Angie Martinez in his first interview following the start of the dispute. That won’t change in the slightest.
Lil Wayne and Birdman failed to differentiate their dispute from an episode of Empire with a January 2016 club reconciliation, in addition to their father troubles and hip-hop dynasty turmoil. Birdman declared, “This my motherfucking son, and I’ma die for him, I’ma live for him, and I’ll motherfucking kill for him,” as the two went back to Miami’s Club LIV to patch things up. That hasn’t altered at all. Forever YMCMB. Despite the off-brand stunting of Lucious Lyon, there is still a deep professional rivalry between Wayne and his master. Fans don’t think Weezy will be released anytime soon because the Cash Money case appears to have reached a deadlock. Still, as I often say, you can wait a year or two for Tha Carter V if Drake could wait seven years for Rihanna to contact him back. We hear that Wayne will sign almost anybody these days, so perhaps he will follow the example set by other YMCMB disgruntled parties and forsake the label in favor of Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music.
However, Wayne’s legal troubles haven’t deterred his devoted following. The rapper got an instant virtual hug after he announced his retirement on Twitter. “I just wanna remind you that absolutely nothing and no one in this world can defeat you,” Chance the Rapper tweeted. Tell them to go back, devils. “Prayers up 4 whatever u may be enduring right now this too will pass & may u find PEACE,” Missy Elliott continued.I will always appreciate what you do. Even the resident bleach-blonde supervillain of hip-hop—there’s always one—became overly emotional: “This man helped my career in so many ways and has inspired me to live life!!!” Chris Brown wrote in the caption of a photo he posted of Wayne on Instagram. I WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST RAPPER Alive! YOU RAPPERS ALL WOULDN’T KNOW WHERE TO GET STARTED. ACTUALLY, THE MAJORITY OF YOU ARE HIS PUPILS AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO ACCEPT IT! Chris Brown yelling at me in caps lock would not console me, but I suppose it’s the thought that matters.
