When faced with a cockroach in his home, Snoop Dogg took an unexpected turn and decided to keep it as a pet rather than getting rid of it.
In a recent interview with Canadian journalist Nardwuar, the 51-year-old rapper shared the amusing tale of his unusual connection with the insect, which he affectionately nicknamed “The Gooch.”
Snoop reminisced, “Gooch used to live with me. In my apartment, I had a roach that we couldn’t kill. We tried to kill the muthaf—-a when we first moved in, and he wouldn’t die, so we called him ‘The Gooch.'” The rapper continued, “He just kept getting bigger and bigger. I stayed in that apartment for like about six, seven months — cuz grew to the size of about a whole dollar bill. … We used to leave food out for him and everything.”
Known for his love of animals, Snoop Dogg launched a pet line called Snoop Doggie Doggs last year, offering a range of items such as apparel, toys, accessories, and bowls for cats and dogs. Additionally, he co-hosted the Puppy Bowl with Martha Stewart in both 2021 and 2022. In early 2022, Snoop’s French bulldog, Frank, went missing in southern Los Angeles but happily returned home.
Reflecting on his role as a grandfather, the “Beautiful” rapper expressed his deep affection for his six grandchildren, with another on the way. Snoop shared insights into each grandchild’s unique personality and the joy he finds in being called “Papa” by them. From his oldest grandson, Zion, asserting himself as the family’s biggest star to his granddaughter, CC (Journey), expressing her love for him, Snoop Dogg finds immense happiness in his role as a grandfather.
