Travis Scott conditions that if the NFL does not sponsor charities, he will not participate in the Super Bowl halftime show

Travis Scott is set to headline the halftime show at Suρer Bowl LIII, as reported by Billboard. The NFL, in agreement with Scott, pledged a joint donation to a social justice organization as a condition for his participation.

This move was disclosed after Maroon 5 announced Scott as a guest performer for the halftime show in December.

The NFL and Scott committed $500,000 to Dream Corps, a “social justice accelerator” founded by Van Jones in 2014, and expressed intentions for future collaborative projects. Scott emphasized his support for those taking a stand for their beliefs and underscored the potential of artists to inspire positive change. He affirmed that the crucial donation was a pre-condition before confirming his participation in the Suρer Bowl Halftime performance.

Initially, Scott faced criticism for his involvement in the halftime show, particularly from figures like Michael B. Jordan and Reverend Al Sharpton, who opposed his collaboration with the NFL due to their treatment of Colin Kaepernick. Notably, artists like Rihanna, JAY-Z, and Cardi B reportedly declined halftime concert offers in solidarity with Kaepernick, who has faced controversy for his protests against racial injustice.

Maroon 5, confirmed as the Suρer Bowl halftime act in September, collaborated with Scott, whose Һit “Sicko Mode” has resonated widely. The joint commitment to social justice by Scott and the NFL aims to align the halftime show with a meaningful cause, addressing the concerns raised by Kaepernick’s supporters.
