Lil Wayne burst into tears when sharing with Tyga about his other self: ‘I don’t know that guy’

Lil Wayne recently provided insights into his creative process for guest features, revealing a distinctive persona that emerges when he steps into the recording booth.

During a discussion on his Apple Music show, Young Money Radio, alongside guest Tyga, Wayne admitted, “When it comes to them verses and them features, I admit there’s a me that I turn on for features that I do not know what the hell goes on. I don’t know that guy, I just know he always comes through.”

Highlighting his prowess in guest features, Wayne likened his reliability to Tyga’s ability to produce hits, stating, “Me featuring on someone’s song and killing the verse is just as sure as this man [Tyga] putting out a hit out. What Snoop said? These muthafuckas right here, we don’t miss.”

Lately, Lil Wayne has received acclaim for his feature on Benny The Butcher’s latest single, “Big Dog,” produced by The Alchemist. The track is set to be part of Benny The Butcher’s upcoming debut album on Def Jam, titled Everybody Can’t Go.

Wayne has consistently delivered stellar verses on various tracks in recent years, including Nas‘ “Never Die,” DJ Khaled‘s “God Did,” Tyler, The Creator‘s “Hot Wind Blows,” and Tyga and YG‘s “Brand New.”

Lil Wayne’s reputation as a standout guest feature artist can be traced back to the late ’90s when he made notable appearances on Cash Money hits like Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up” and B.G.’s “Bling Bling.”

Now in the fourth decade of his career, Lil Wayne continues to contribute features for a diverse array of artists, including Eminem, JAY-Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake, OutKast, and his favorite rapper, Missy Elliott.

Many of his featured verses have received Grammy nominations, with notable collaborations like “Make It Rain” with Fat Joe, “Soldier” with Destiny’s Child and Fat Joe, and “I’m On One” with DJ Khaled, Drake, and Rick Ross. Notably, the collaboration “Swagga Like Us” with JAY-Z, T.I., and Kanye West won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2009.
