Recently, the touring rapper Travis Scott graced Oakland, California, with two electrifying concerts, a city just across the San Francisco Bay from the Golden State Warriors’ home court.
Before the Warriors faced off against the Sacramento Kings, Scott engaged with the team’s players at their training facility on Wednesday. In an exciting display, he even took a few shots in the presence of none other than Stephen Curry, universally acclaimed as one of the greatest shooters in basketball history.
In a video message, Scott warmly welcomed Curry and Chris Paul, with the company of Gary Payton II and rookie guard Brandin Podziemski, who commended Scott for his stellar performance in Oakland the previous night.
During their interaction, Podziemski expressed curiosity about Scott’s physique, prompting a light-hearted assessment of Scott’s shooting form. While Scott’s shooting technique may not align with modern coaching standards, there was acknowledgment of his effective rotation, evidenced by his successful three-pointer from the corner, albeit the shorter NCAA distance.
Scott’s Wednesday evening performance took precedence, leaving it uncertain how much of the Warriors’ game he witnessed. Unfortunately, his early departure potentially caused him to miss one of the most thrilling moments of the nascent season. In the final minutes, Stephen Curry’s floater, executed with less than a minute remaining, propelled the Warriors to a one-point lead.
However, the Kings quickly retaliated, regaining the lead with a midrange jumper from center Domantas Sabonis. In a last-second twist, Warriors guard Klay Thompson sank a jumper off a screen, securing a dramatic 102-101 victory.
Looking ahead, the Golden State Warriors are set to embark on their inaugural contest in the NBA’s new in-season tournament when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. Meanwhile, Travis Scott continues his tour, heading to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on November 5. Notably, he is reported to be the first rap artist to perform and sell out the 70,000-capacity venue, which hosts the home games of the Chargers and Rams. Scott’s latest album, “Utopia,” released in July and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, takes center stage in his ongoing tour.
