Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice achieved a coveted milestone on ‘Jeopardy,’ yet still left one contestant stumped

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice have been dominating together this year. They kicked things off in April with a remix of Ice’s “Princess Diana” from her debut EP, Like…?. Then, in June, they dropped “Barbie World,” their collaborative track for the Barbie soundtrack.

“Barbie World” has earned the duo nominations for “Best Rap Song” and “Best Song Written For Visual Media” at the 2024 Grammys. Despite the success of the song and the artists’ constant presence, there are still some people unfamiliar with them.

In a recent episode of Jeopardy on November 21, the song was featured in a prompt:

“Ice Spice and this singer whose fans are called Barbz are fittingly on the Barbie soundtrack with ‘Barbie World.'”

While any Barb (Nicki Minaj’s fan) would instantly recognize the answer as Minaj, the contestant didn’t seem to be fluent in Barb-speak. The contestant guessed, “Who is Aqua?” only to be corrected that the answer was Minaj. However, the contestant wasn’t entirely wrong, as “Barbie World” prominently samples Aqua’s hit single “Barbie Girl.”

Getting a shout-out on Jeopardy is another noteworthy achievement to add to the impressive resumes of these two rappers.
