Singer-songwriter Travis Scott attended the Utah Jazz’s recent home game against the Portland Trailblazers, adding to his previous visits to Salt Lake City for various All-Star events earlier this year.
The Tuesday game marked the Trailblazers’ inaugural home appearance in the In-Season Tournament against the Jazz. Utah took advantage of the occasion to unveil their new purple court and uniforms. Despite the Trailblazers being short-handed, the Jazz secured an early lead.
Understanding the importance of point differentials in the group stage of the In-Season Tournament, the Utah Jazz aimed to maintain their lead and build on their momentum. This matchup was significant for Utah as they hosted their first in-season tournament match. With a goal to improve their record to 2-0 in the tournament, the Jazz introduced new apparel and court against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Prior to this, the Jazz had secured their first victory in cup play by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. The Trail Blazers, entering the In-Season Tournament with a 1-0 record, had also won against the Grizzlies in overtime on November 3.
Following a challenging stretch of games in the Midwest, the Jazz were seeking their first winning streak of the season when facing the Trail Blazers. Before their triumph over Memphis, the Jazz had endured four consecutive losses, three of which were decided by a margin of 16 points or more.
Complicating matters, the Jazz had been without starting center Walker Kessler due to a diagnosis of a sprained left elbow. Kessler is set to be reevaluated next week. In his absence, the team experimented with a new starting lineup, featuring newcomer Keyonte George and second-year forward Ochai Agbaji, resulting in a 1-1 record.
