Island’s own Spiritbox Competes with Legendary Music Group Metallica for Grammy Award

A metal band hailing from Vancouver Island is in the running for a Grammy award, finding itself in esteemed company alongside giants such as Metallica and Slipknot.

Spiritbox, originating on Vancouver Island in 2017, was founded by the husband and wife duo of Courtney LaPlante, the vocalist, and Michael Stringer, the guitarist. The current lineup also features Zev Rose on drums and Josh Gilbert on bass.

Their 2020 single, “Holy Roller,” enjoyed tremendous success, earning the band the distinction of having the number one song of the year on Sirius XM and reaching the 25th spot on the Billboard Hоt Hard Rock chart.

Their latest achievement is the nomination of their song “Jaded” in the Best Metal Performance category. In this fiercely contested category, Spiritbox is pitted against Metallica, Slipknot, Disturbed, and Ghоst, all vying for the coveted honor.

The eagerly anticipated Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The event will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
